What are we looking for


At Cosentino (www.cosentino.com) we are looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join our team to cover the Chicago, IL area,  who will have the opportunity to work in a multinational environment, in full expansion, surrounded by numerous challenging projects that you can be part of.
 

What you will do


The Corporate Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting the planning, developing, implementing and organizing of Cosentino’s Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety Program and other related components. This includes managing the completion of program related activities like employee EHS Compliance Training, Safety Committee Meetings, Job Hazard Analysis and Site Safety Inspections as needed throughout the entire organization, and regular site visits to ensure compliance with regulatory environmental and safety requirements.


Job Expectations
 

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of compliance with federal and state EHS regulations and Cosentino EHS global policies
  • Partner with and educate business functions to assure that employee health, safety, and environmental activities are sustainable and in compliance with applicable regulations
  • Support the establishment and performance of EHS activities, and report regularly back to top-management on various metrics 
  • Develop and implement emergency responses, spill response plans, and disaster preparedness plans
  • Facilitate the development of EHS goals/objectives 
  • Develop a sustainable ergonomic program involving multifunctional staff participation
  • Evaluate and review new product developments, new hazardous materials, facility modifications, product manufacturing modification, and new equipment/machinery installations to ensure all is in compliance with EHS requirements
  • Tour fabrication, distribution, hub, and office facilities regularly throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico to ensure all locations are in compliance with EHS laws, regulations, and policies
  • Manage complex EHS job functions such as job safety analyses/risk assessments, EHS trainings, workplace incident analyses, industrial hygiene evaluations, EHS inspections, environmental regulatory reporting, permit negotiation, data collection/analysis, and internal audits
  • Support management to obtain and maintain Health and Safety records and required Environmental permits, licenses, and documents
  • Work together with our EHS HQ management in Spain to coordinate efforts with the Cosentino Group
     

What you need to succeed


EXPERIENCE

Desired

•    +2 years of professional experience managing or working closely with Environmental, Health and Safety issues in a multi-state manufacturing and distribution environment
•    +2 years working knowledge of Federal and State environmental, safety and health laws and regulations, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, ISO, and Ergonomic Practices. Canadian and Mexico regulatory knowledge would be a plus
•    OSHA Authorized General Industry Safety Outreach Trainer - (Ability to immediately acquire designation)


EDUCATION

Required
•    Certified Safety Professional or other similar professional safety designation like the Associate Risk Manager


Desired
•    Bachelor’s degree


KNOWLEDGES

Required
•    Proven skills in applying EHS Regulatory laws & related policies, standards and objectives 


SKILLS

Required
•    Communication: Oral & Written. Capacity to interact with multiple levels within all faces with commercial industry projects
•    Strong planning and organization skills
•    Ability to efficiently and effectively perform and manage billing activities 
•    Strong Presentation skills
•    Ability to work effectively, efficiently, and independently, in addition to being a positive team member

Wage Range:

The annual Starting salary for this position is between $78,000 – 88,000 annually.  

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.  

This position is also eligible Potential Annual Award depending on individual performance and Company performance, in accordance with the terms of the Company’s plan.
 
Benefits:

The Company offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements, including Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, Short-term and Long-term Disability and Basic Life and Supplemental Insurance. You will also be eligible to enroll in our 401(k) Retirement Plan, starting the first of the month.

Paid time off:

Vacation time will be accrued monthly and will be subject to change per the Company’s policy updates. 5 days of sick time. Full-time employees will receive 2 floating holidays to use each year. If hired after July 1, employees receive 1 floating holiday to use for that calendar year.
